The Christmas Post

I know this is long over due - but it's better late than never!

We had such a great Christmas this year! It was so fun celebrating Lincoln's first Christmas. I know he won't remember it, but I know I will. I had so much fun playing Santa! We started our own family traditions that I know we'll keep for years.

I have SO many pictures from our Christmas - so here is the picture overload!

On the 23rd of December, I started this tradition a few years ago of making homemade, from scratch sugar cookies. Love love love them! Although I forgot that I borrow my mother in laws Christmas cookies cutters last year, so this year we only did Star cookies because that was the only 'Christmas' one I had.

Lincoln was such a good helper, sitting in his bouncer enjoying listening to Christmas music with me. I love my little buddy.
On Christmas eve day we got together with my family in the early afternoon. We first went to eat at Red Robin, one of our favorite family restaurants. Then afterward we went and saw True Grit. Loved it! It was such a great movie! Although, I was missing my Lincoln the whole time! We left him with my in laws. It was the second time we've left him alone with someone and boy - i missed him!

This is a picture of James. He loves food and we were all finished so we got up to leave, but James wanted to pretty much finish everyone's meal. We had a great laugh.

After the movie we headed to the Wright's for Christmas Eve Pot Luck Dinner. It was a wonderful evening spending it with family. (Unfortunately I don't have any pictures)

Christmas Day was so fun! I barely slept that night in anticipation for Christmas Morning with Lincoln.

I woke up and started making some breakfast while James watched the Nativity.  Once Lincoln woke up, Lincoln decided to join Daddy.
Once we finished breakfast it was CHRISTMAS TIME! We first gathered around the tree for a Christmas photo.

Then it was time for stockings! Santa came and put lots of candy in our stockings! Santa put lots of James' favorite treats in his stocking, aviator sun glasses in mine and a book in Lincolns. Did I mention lots and lots of candy?! :)
After stockings we headed to the tree to open presents! Lincoln loved the wrapping paper! We tried to have him grab the paper to actually open his gifts but he just liked the paper after the fact. Lincoln got SPOILED! He got 6 new books from Santa, 2 new outfits from mom and dad, 2 outfits and lots of toys from my parents and a cute stuffed animal for his Great Grandparents Mitchell.  James got a studly looking shirt, and I got a beautiful blouse and a fun sweater. My parents gave us some yummy goodies along with some money. They also gave us lots of meat! Yes meat - chicken, stakes, ribs etc. It's so nice having that stocked up in our freezer!  And my wonder in laws gave us some money as well, along with an amazing electric blanket. Holy hannah I use it daily!

 Some of Lincoln's goodies!

Lincoln also got this sweet book from his Grandma Wright. For each of the grandkids she scrapbooks 2 pages and hand writes a letter to the kids.  It was so sweet to hear her sweet words to Lincoln. We will be looking forward to all her scrapbook pages and letters for many many years.

After we opened all the presents, we got ready and headed to the Wrights. Well, this is what Lincoln did while James and I got ready. Opening presents gets tiring!

When we got to the Wrights we enjoyed playing with the family. John and his family got remote control helicopters that the boys played for a long time - which was fun to watch. David got the kenect so there was a lot of dancing going on!

Lincoln had a fun time playing this his Uncle Dave and Dan. They had so much fun playing together. They were getting a kick out of Lincoln laughing at them.

After the Wright's we headed to my house to hang with the family and have our traditional Christmas Dinner. My mom does such a great job every year! I love Christmas with the family! This year my mom had invited both my grandparents and my Uncles Joe and his cute family. It was a full house but it so so much fun!!
It's a tradition to have these English 'poppers' on our plates. They are so fun to pop! And of course we all had to wear our crowns for the night!

 my mom's beautiful trees!

After dinner we enjoyed games, talking, dance dance, a movie and just hung out. Christmas was seriously the best!

Lincoln loves Uncles Nick! They played a lot that night!
